Possibly the coolest moon gadget I have come across lately.  Google earth offers a “moon tour” using what seems to be the same technology  and/or services they use to bring you google earth.

This moon tour allows you to view the surface of the moon. While viewing the moon you can view different flags or “pins” that are numbered. Each numbered pin is a different object or feature that is on the moons surface.

For example: This is an excerpt if “Pin 14”

“As they traveled, the astronauts paused occasionally to put down the Modular Equipment Transporter (MET) and take panoramas with their hand-held cameras. If nothing else, the panoramas could later be analyzed on the ground and used to reconstruct the path of their traverse.”

You can find landing sites and you can find where NASA has placed some of their equipment on the moon. Google moon is definitely something you should check out.

The moon phases are as follows:

• First quarter
• Waxing crescent
• New moon
• Waning Crescent
• Third Quarter
• Waning Gibbous
• Full Moon
• Waxing Gibbous

The moon has four phases: The new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter. The quarter describes the stage of where the moon is in relation to it’s cycle. The first quarter of the moon phase would put the moon 1/4th of the way through it’s cycle.

The moon’s cycle goes from: new moon —>  first quarter —> full moon (2nd quarter) —> third quarter —> then begins again as the new moon.

Before it gets to the first quarter the moon has to begin it’s approximate 29 day cycle somewhere, it begins as the new moon, the first phase of the moon cycle. The easiest way to know if the moon is a new moon is if you see no moon at all. The new moon is actually in a position that is between the sun and the earth so all of the sun’s light will shine on the side of the moon that we do not see from earth, this is why it appears that the moon is not there. Think of it as if someone was standing in front of your light source, your light would be blocked and a shadow would be cast where the light “should” have been.

Moon Landing Hoax -conspiracy

Since the United States first landed on the moon some people have doubted that the landing actually happened; in fact, there is a conspiracy theory that thinks otherwise of the mission. Some people believe that in 1969 NASA, Buzz Aldrin, and Neil  Armstrong were not actually on the moon but in a Hollywood studio. Although there are the conspiracy theorists to the moon landing it DID actually happen, and it happened on the moon!

Did you know that from earth we always only see one side of the moon. The other side of the moon, nicknamed “the dark side” always faces away from the earth and has never been seen from this point of view.

Your moon sign is similar to getting your horoscope, they are signs of astrology, of course though there is skepticism in these signs. They try to show you your “fate” by using the planets system as a “map” to possibly show the effects it has on people. The moon and sun sign are said to be the most important of the astrology signs.
